Korea University, established in 1905, is South Korea's oldest private university and one of the nation's most prestigious institutions as a member of the elite SKY universities. Founded by Lee Yong-ik as Bosung College during the final years of the Korean Empire, the university played a significant role in Korea's independence movement and modern nation-building. The main Anam Campus in Seoul's Seongbuk-gu district spans 82 acres and features a distinctive blend of historic and modern architecture, including the iconic Main Building with its Gothic Revival design. Korea University operates 15 colleges with over 80 departments, offering comprehensive programs across humanities, social sciences, natural sciences, engineering, medicine, and law.
